Give ear to my prayer, O God...

Give ear to my prayer, O God,
    and hide not yourself from my plea for mercy!
2 Attend to me, and answer me;
    I am restless in my complaint and I moan,
3 because of the noise of the enemy,
    because of the oppression of the wicked.
For they drop trouble upon me,
    and in anger they bear a grudge against me.

4 My heart is in anguish within me;
    the terrors of death have fallen upon me.
5 Fear and trembling come upon me,
    and horror overwhelms me.
6 And I say, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove!
    I would fly away and be at rest;
7 yes, I would wander far away;
    I would lodge in the wilderness; Selah
8 I would hurry to find a shelter
    from the raging wind and tempest.”

9 Destroy, O Lord, divide their tongues;
    for I see violence and strife in the city.
10 Day and night they go around it
    on its walls,
and iniquity and trouble are within it;
11 ruin is in its midst;
oppression and fraud
    do not depart from its marketplace.

12 For it is not an enemy who taunts me—
    then I could bear it;
it is not an adversary who deals insolently with me—
    then I could hide from him.
13 But it is you, a man, my equal,
    my companion, my familiar friend.
14 We used to take sweet counsel together;
    within God's house we walked in the throng.
15 Let death steal over them;
    let them go down to Sheol alive;
    for evil is in their dwelling place and in their heart.

16 But I call to God,
    and the Lord will save me.
17 Evening and morning and at noon
    I utter my complaint and moan,
    and he hears my voice.
18 He redeems my soul in safety
    from the battle that I wage,
    for many are arrayed against me.
19 God will give ear and humble them,
    he who is enthroned from of old, Selah
because they do not change
    and do not fear God.

20 My companion stretched out his hand against his friends;
    he violated his covenant.
21 His speech was smooth as butter,
    yet war was in his heart;
his words were softer than oil,
    yet they were drawn swords.

22 Cast your burden on the Lord,
    and he will sustain you;
he will never permit
    the righteous to be moved.

23 But you, O God, will cast them down
    into the pit of destruction;
men of blood and treachery
    shall not live out half their days.
But I will trust in you.

All My Boast Is in Jesus...

What wonder of wonders, what love is this
That Christ would die for me
His goodness, His merit, His righteousness
This sinner’s only plea

O foolish pride, be crucified
The work is finished

All my boast is in Jesus
All my hope is His love
And I will glory forever
In what the cross has done

Now fully forgiven, my life is filled
With graces undeserved
For mercy that flowed down that sacred hill
Let praises now return

Rise up my soul, and bless the Lord
Who else is worthy?

All my boast is in Jesus
All my hope is His love
And I will glory forever
In what the cross has done

O praise the One forever blessed
Him alone my heart adores
And I will boast in nothing less
Than the love of Christ my Lord

O praise the One forever blessed
Him alone my heart adores
And I will boast in nothing less
Than the love of Christ my Lord

I boast not in riches, in strength or might
But in the grace of God
I glory in weakness, to live is Christ
In plenty or in want

That I may know, that all may see
His pow’r within me

All my boast is in Jesus
All my hope is His love
And I will glory forever
In what the cross has done
Now I stand in this freedom
Ransomed, clean in His sight
And I cannot be ashamed for
My boast is Jesus Christ
My boast is Jesus Christ
Forever my boast is Jesus Christ

To be like Christ. That is our goal, plain and simple...

To be like Christ. That is our goal, plain and simple. It sounds like a peaceful, relaxing, easy objective. But stop and think. He learned obedience by the things He suffered. So do we. He endured all kinds of temptations. So must we. To be like Christ is our goal. But it is neither easy nor quick nor natural. It’s impossible in the flesh, slow in coming, and supernatural in scope. Only Christ can accomplish it within us.

In the center of the circle...

In the center of the circle
Of the will of God I stand,
As I launch from sheltering harbor
To obey all His commands.
What though waves overwhelm my vessel,
And grim fears my faith assail,
Still I’ll stay upon His promise,
For that cannot, will not, fail.

In the center of the circle,
Of the will of God I stand,
Where the warfare wages fiercest—
’Tis the place that He has planned.
Though dread foes may storm my castle,
And the battle seem but lost,
I will claim in Him the victory,
And hold on what ere the cost.

In the center of the circle,
Of the will of God I stand,
There can be no second causes,
All must come from His dear hand.
When dark clouds obscure my vision,
And the way I cannot see,
I will trust Him in the darkness,
For I know He pilots me.

In the center of the circle,
Of the will of God I stand,
Though the universe around me
Shows small trace of His dear hand,
Yet in darkness as in daylight,
In the gloom or sunshine fair,
I will trust Him, for His presence,
For I know He’s always near.

Only a Holy God...

Only a Holy God / Holy, Holy, Holy

Who else commands all the hosts of heaven
Who else could make every king bow down
Who else can whisper and darkness trembles
Only a Holy God

What other beauty demands such praises
What other splendor outshines the sun
What other majesty rules with justice
Only a Holy God

Come and behold Him
The One and the Only
Cry out, sing holy
Forever a Holy God
Come and worship the Holy God

What other glory consumes like fire
What other power can raise the dead
What other name remains undefeated
Only a Holy God

Come and behold Him
The One and the Only
Cry out, sing holy
Forever a Holy God
Come and worship the Holy God

Who else could rescue me from my failing
Who else would offer His only Son
Who else invites me to call Him Father
Only a Holy God
Only my Holy God

Come and behold Him
The One and the Only
Cry out, sing holy
Forever a Holy God
Come and worship the Holy God

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

Oh for a Thousand Tongues to Sing...

Oh for a Thousand Tongues to Sing

The Sin Breaker
by Paul Levy

Excerpt: As those who have been united to Christ by faith we have been delivered from the penalty of sin, and the power of sin, and one day gloriously we will be delivered from the presence of sin. There are different ways of putting that – we have been saved, we are being saved and we will be saved. The theological words that express this are justification, sanctification and glorification.

It’s that deliverance from the power of sin I think is so helpful in our fighting with sin.

Charles Wesley in his magnificent hymn ‘O for a Thousand tongues’ captures it well: He breaks the power of cancelled sin, He sets the prisoner free.

Without exception, sin affects every human being: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. It is deep in our hearts. Those who haven’t known God’s regenerating grace try to fight against sin, some with incredible acts of willpower but ultimately we cannot in our own strength root out sin. Read it all...

Where Thou Leadest Me...

Where Thou Leadest Me
Keith & Kristyn Getty, Bryan Fowler

Where Thou leadest me
I dare not find complaint
For Thou hast never left
Nor will for all my days
Thy presence is my good
And it shall ever be
I will go where Thou leadest me

Sovereign is Thy hand
To guide me when I’m worn
Thy good and perfect will
Holds fast through every storm
What time I am afraid
My faith looks up to Thee
I will trust where Thou leadest me

On the mountain high
Through the valley deep
I will go where Thou leadest me

O Shepherd keep me near
For I am prone to stray
The frailty of my flesh
Seeks refuge in Thy grace
This promise is my peace
My soul is safe in Thee
I will rest as Thou leadest me

On the mountain high
Through the valley deep
I will go where Thou leadest me

Savior light my path
Until that final day
If Thou art Lord of life
Why should I fear the grave?
Proud death has lost its sting
For all eternity
I will rise where Thou leadest me
Home with Christ where Thou leadest me

On the mountain high
Through the valley deep
I will go where Thou leadest me
